This tropical perennial plant is commonly called Zanzibar Gem, ZZ Plant, Zulu Plant or Emerald Palm. A herbaceous plant growing up to 60cm tall, from a stout underground succulent rhizome. The Zanzibar Gem is drought tolerant due to the potato like rhizome that stores water. The glossy leaves are up to 60cm long, succulent and pinnate with 6-8 pairs of elliptic-ovate leaflets which are broadest in the middle. Due to its watering storing nature you don't have to water your Zanzibar Gem very often. Allow it to completely dry out between watering.For your plant to thrive, position in bright indirect sunlight however, it can do well in low light levels too.
